Richard castor jeffery
Richard is an oil painter who lives and works in North Bristol, in the UK.
His work focuses on the built environment, most often that of the Victorian urban and residential streets where he lives. His familiarity with and interest in these everyday built forms, their unobserved shapes, patterns and colours inform his approach. A search for honesty and simplicity, in both the subject and its representation, is a thread that runs through his work.
Richard’s background is in architecture. With a keen interest in the art of architectural representation, he has had drawings and models exhibited in the Royal Academy in London & the RIAI in Dublin, and has published in a number of books and magazines.
Richard’s paintings have been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London (2024), The Royal West of England Academy annual exhibition in Bristol (2020, 2023), the Bath Society of Artists annual exhibition in Bath (2021), and shortlisted for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters . Although based in the UK, his work is in a number of significant private collections around the world, from the United States to New Zealand.
